A Celebration of Inspirational Black Women and their Achievements Competition

  

Calling all Year 4-13 pupils! Let’s get creative and submit a piece of your own work to celebrate your inspirational role model. This could be someone you know or someone you’d like to know. You can find inspiration from our Icons here:

What we're asking you to do:

Create an original artwork on the theme of: “A celebration of inspirational black role models and their achievements.

This could be painting, drawing or collage, photography, graphic design, sculpture, textiles, poetry, video, literature, story.

 

Here’s what you need to know:

• Create a piece of original artwork on the theme of: “Black Iconic Women”.

• Click the button below to submit your artwork by Friday 31st March 2023

• A judging panel made up of The Steering committee will select their favourite pieces.

• All pieces submitted will feature online, and finalists will be part of a physical exhibition.

• Awards will be announced online in May.

• Images of students’ work may be included on the Brockley Max website, in future advertising or media publications to promote the exhibition.

• Artwork must be submitted as an individual project

• Winners will be judged from Primary and Secondary categories.

Accepted Media Includes:

• Paintings/Drawings/Collage. (A3 largest size)

• Photography (digital, black & white, colour A3 largest size)

• Graphic Art (drawing, painting, computer graphics, etc. A3 largest size)

• 3D (papier-mâché, sculpture, quilting, etc. (A3 largest size)

• Written (poetry, story, prose, 500 words maximum

• Video or audio (up to 1 minute) mp4/mp3 format

How to submit your artwork:

• Please submit original work. If you have made a physical piece of work (such as a painting/sculpture) please submit a clear photo of your artwork for judging in the first instance

• One entry per person.

• Entries must be submitted with a short paragraph explaining why you have chosen to create your representation this way and how it reflects the Black Women Icons message.

• All artwork must be made by students and recognise the theme.

•  Artwork must be labelled with your name and the name of the woman you have represented.
