Meet the Team
Brockley Max relies on the time and goodwill of dozens of local residents, with a taskforce of volunteers to help sell raffle tickets, steward events, run workshops and generally keep things running.
Behind the scenes, the organising committee make sure the festival happens in the first place. We apply for funding, liaise with Lewisham Council to use public sites and organise the publicity and festival structure.
Here’s the team that makes it all happen.
Moira has lived in the area for 34 years and started Brockley Max in 2001 to provide opportunities for local artists to showcase their work. When not working on the festival, she’s a voice over artist, forages to make jams and lectures on archaeology in SE Asia and Europe.
This will be the 6th year I’ve been part of the Brockley Max team-I’ve mainly worked on getting the local businesses to sponsor/advertise with us in the programme. This year I will be part of organising the fantastic Art in the Park family day signing up the craft & food stalls. I love being part of this great community festival & enjoy all 9 days of it in June.
A Brockley resident since 2006, Jeff serves as Brockley Max’s Events Manager. Working with Moira and the wider team, he supports the development of the annual programme by connecting talent and venues. As an urbanist, he is an advocate for better public realm with specific interests in parks, street markets, festivals, and temporary installations.
Helen is Company Secretary for Max Media Arts and provides support on fundraising and event account management. She lives in SE4 with her family and has been involved in Brockley Max for around 10 years. By day she is a civil servant in the Office for Civil Society.
Art In The Park Organiser
Elisabetta has been living in Brockley for the past 27 years and has been involved with BM for 10 years.
Darren has been part of the Brockley Max team since 2015. An experienced software architect & developer, Darren started out by helping list events on the Brockley Max website, and has gone on to take a more active role in modernising the site.
Social Media Manager
Catherine has been part of the Brockley Max team since 2018 - she is an SE23 local and loves making the most of all the events the area has to offer. After attending the festival, and loving Art in the Park, she knew she had to be a part of this great event. A digital marketeer by trade, Catherine is responsible for the social media activity for Brockley Max. When not running the social media activity for Brockley Max, she is busy upping her photography skills and learning to code.
Rosie has been involved with the festival for the past eight years. A journalist, editor and teacher as well as a keen crafter, Rosie designs and puts together the Brockley Max programme each year.
Emma has co-ordinated our volunteer programme for three years now. Originally from Spain,
she’s made Crofton Park her home with her son.
Mark Best has lived locally for 22 years and volunteered with Brockley Max since 2018. He runs Blah PR and is a qualified LesMills BodyAttack Instructor.
