Meet the Team
Brockley Max relies on the time and goodwill of dozens of local residents, with a taskforce of volunteers to help sell raffle tickets, steward events, run workshops and generally keep things running.
Behind the scenes, the organising committee make sure the festival happens in the first place. We apply for funding, liaise with Lewisham Council to use public sites and organise the publicity and festival structure.
Here’s the team that makes it all happen.
Moira has lived in the area for 34 years and started Brockley Max in 2001 to provide opportunities for local artists to showcase their work. When not working on the festival, she’s a voice over artist, and lectures on archaeology in SE Asia and Europe.
Emma has co-ordinated our volunteer programme for seven years now. Originally from Spain,
she’s made Sydenham her home with her son.
A Brockley resident since 2006, Jeff supports the Events team. Working with Moira and the wider team, he supports the development of the annual programme by connecting talent and venues. As an urbanist, he is an advocate for better public realm with specific interests in parks, street markets, festivals, and temporary installations.
Deputy Director & Programme Designer
Rosie has been involved with the festival for the past fifteen years. A journalist, editor and teacher as well as a keen crafter, Rosie designs and puts together the Brockley Max programme each year.
Art In The Park Organiser
Elisabetta has been living in Brockley for the past 27 years and has been involved with BM for 13 years.
Darren has been part of the Brockley Max team since 2015. An experienced software architect & developer, Darren started out by helping list events on the Brockley Max website, and has gone on to take a more active role in modernising the site.
Sponsorship & Advertising Manager
Jean grew up in New Cross and has lived in Ladywell since 2001. She has worked extensively in the music industry and radio broadcast and now runs her own healthcare business in Ladywell. Jean is a huge believer in the power of the community and loves South East London because of its unique cohesive atmosphere. She has been an attendee of Brockley Max Festival since 2001 and worked with the Festival Radio team for the last 2 years. This year she is taking on the role of Sponsorship Manager and she looks forward to speaking to local businesses and organisations who would like to get involved and be part of this amazing annual festival.
June moved to Brockley in 2015, enjoying the local community feel as well as access to all that London has to offer. She became involved with Brockley Max in 2022 and will be co-ordinating events again this year.
