The Folk In The Garden
The very best acoustic music in this open air special extravaganza with many artists including:
3:00pm RAGTOP DOWN
Our two American pals Gaby and Lyle Zimmerman are joined by Ben Tunningley to open proceedings and sing country and folk from the heart, from experience and from 3pm if the roads are clear!
3:35pm JOEL RENOUF – COOKE
A London/Brighton based singer-songwriter, whose mystical folk ballads, irreverent verse and lyrical poetry and memorable melodies make him stand out amongst the crowd plus a constantly evolving style.
3:55pm BARBARA BARTZ
Go to ace violinist from Poland who features on many great albums in recent years, just ask practically everyone else on the bill. Currently inching towards completing her first sensational solo album.
4:15pm SIMON AND BETH
Distinctive and deceptive light, feathery, summery sounds, interrupted by Daniel Renouf’s stunning guitar solos, a bit like the Mamas And Papas have met Astrid Gilberto in a sunny slipstream but there’s a dark undertow to the lyrics.
4:55pm DAMIEN RENOUF
We’re eagerly anticipating the release of a third album from this local hero towards the end of 2021, working title “Bavarian Lace”, to match the first two that were so well received in the last few years.
5:25pm TONY LORDING
Legendary local songwriter who made a deep impression with his last album “Cowboy In A Car Park” promises to sing old favourites and songs from his long awaited next release, “Let It Roar”, planned for release sometime this century.
5:55pm ROB CORCORAN
London based Irish singer songwriter who wowed everyone and Christy Moore with his first album is about to unleash a second, “Grand Declarations”, including some great new songs to be sung here.
6:35pm ALICE RENOUF
Singer with Brockley based band ‘The True Believers’ performs her own homemade, heartfelt soulful songs.
6:55pm WINSTON SKERRITT
Just voice and guitar, it says here, but he’s magnificent with some really cool great songs such as “Mrs. Brown”, “Bogus Winston”, “By Your Side” and “Ciderman”!
7:20pm THE KIMBERLEYS
With a life long history of involvement in and on the borders of folk, The Kimberleys have developed a sound which is both true to the tradition and refreshingly original. Great folk anthems such as Tam Lin and Elsie Marley retain their familiarity, but with fresh and vital arrangements they shine like new pennies recalling the excitement of folk revival greats such as Fairport Convention and Pentangle.
7:55pm DAVE SUTHERLAND
A well known troubadour in these quarters, much loved by us all, with a string of superb albums and a long awaited new one shortly, produced by Grammy Award winning producer Stacy Parrish and Hot Tuna’s Jack Casady.
8:35pm DAN RAZA
With two very much loved albums behind him, Dan is currently working on a third to win our hearts all over again. These days, he’s also host of the popular online radio show. “Spirit And Roots”.
9:20pm GABRIEL MORENO
To bring the event to a close, South London resident, poet and songwriter from Gibraltar will be nosediving into the night with original songs from his third underground hit album in a row, “Whiskey And Angels” plus a few well-chosen classics.
