Volunteer for Brockley Max in 2025

Brockley Max arts festival has been going since 2001 and over the years it has gone from strength to strength, with the number and variety of free events increasing each year. The festival is run by a team of volunteers who are passionate about our local community and the arts. Brockley Max is seeking more committee members who can bring new ideas, energy and enthusiasm to the festival and share in its’ success. Being part of the Brockley Max team is sometimes challenging but mostly rewarding and you’ll really feel like you’re making a difference in our community.
Volunteer, Jane, says, “Five years ago the opportunity arose to get involved in the organisation of this great community festival and I grabbed it and have not looked back since! At the end of the festival I feel very proud that I've helped contribute to the smooth running of Brockley Max. I wouldn't hesitate to say come and join us!”
Volunteer, Helen says, “Helping to organise Brockley Max is incredibly rewarding and brilliant fun. I have got to know great people from all walks of life who come together to help make this community so vibrant and special. I've developed new skills, learnt about what goes into organising a major event and seen loads of fantastic art and music along the way. We have some specific volunteer roles for this year if you'd like to gain experience in event management, are organised and interested in the arts and your community:
Art In The Park Stall Co-ordinator
We're looking for someone asap who can an organise the stall applications. The job requires a few hours per week from March until the 7th June with great admin and organisational skills to keep track of applications on Google Sheets and to check stallholder paperwork. Plus you'll need to be on site for the duration of Max in The Park on Saturday June 7th to direct people to their stalls, make sure they have correct paperwork on site, and help organise volunteers to help set up and take down their stalls. You'll be supported by our Max In The Park manager, Elisabetta and our Volunteer Co-ordinator. If you're a great organiser and people person, we want to hear from you.
Band/Musicians Co-ordinator
Do you have knowledge of the local music scene and can seek out bands for the Opening Night & Max In The Park events, knows what music works well at outdoor performances, and has a commitment to see bands represented by our community, which include female, global majority and under 25 acts? The role involves a few hours a week seeking out local acts, outreaching to local music organisations, creating an exciting line up, and liaising with the bands and stage manager at the events. It'd be great if you could attend both events on Friday 30th May for the Opening Night and 7th June for Max In The Park and can start immediately. You'll be working with Brockley Max Director Moira and the team, and we hope for this role to grow in 2026 as we will have funding.
Music Trail Co-ordinator
From an idea which started during lockdown, the Music Trail has been an exciting fixture in the festival programme. Usually held on the first weekend of the festival, it is a series of live music in people's front gardens, in parks and anywhere outside where the audience can follow a trail during the day in Brockley, Crofton Park and Ladywell. We need someone to co-ordinate the timings of bands who apply, suggest locations if necessary, liaise with the bands, help promote the Trail and make sure everything goes to plan on the weekend. This is a great role to get in on event organising and only requires a few hours each week in April and May in the run up to the festival in June. You'll be working with Brockley Max Director Moira and our Events Co-ordinator June.
