Could you be Brockley Max’s next sound engineer?
Do you have solid sound engineering chops along with experience of running live outdoor stages with fast performer turnarounds?
Brockley Max is looking to recruit a sound engineer to run the stages at our Opening Night on Friday 29 May and our Max In The Park day festival on Hilly Fields on Saturday 6 June. We have had some excellent sound engineers over the years, but Dave from Brockley Studios is stepping back after five years of helping ensure everything runs well and sounds great at our renowned Opening Night. We were already scouting for a sound engineer for Max In The Park day festival this year, so we thought we’d advertise for someone experienced in sound engineering at live, outdoor events to cover both dates.
The role requires technical knowledge and experience and we would love to recruit someone from our creative, musical community or surrounding areas to this key festival role. The sound engineer will need to provide equipment including a full outdoor PA system, a backline including drums, amps and keyboard and some basic lights. Public liability insurance and experience of effective noise management are also prerequisites since our Opening Night takes place in a residential area of Brockley and Max In The Park is a public space owned by Lewisham Council.
Brockley Max is an exciting and inspiring annual community arts festival that takes place over nine days at the end of May and the first week of June each year across five Lewisham wards: Brockley, Ladywell, Honor Oak, Crofton Park and Lewisham Central. This year, Brockley Max is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Brockley Max consists of nearly 100 events and attracts around 5,000 people each year. Opening Night and Max In The Park book-end the festival, with other events hosted and arranged by local performers and venues as well as the festival organising team.
It was founded in 2001 by Moira Tait as a way of celebrating the area’s creative communities and independent businesses and venues. The festival is organised by Max Media Arts, a not-for-profit community interest company committed to creating and promoting arts projects in the community. It has always been run by and for the community and almost all the volunteer-led organising team and temporary recruits live in or near its SE London.
