Foxborough Gardens Mural – Open Days
Free
Venue: Foxborough Gardens flats, SE4 1HT at the ‘back’ of the Foxborough Gardens
Time: 2pm – 4pm (Saturday & Sunday)
The Foxborough Gardens blocks of flats are home to two outstanding murals created in the 1950’s by William Mitchell, a leading British artist who, at one time, worked from a studio in Forest Hill. Born in London, Mitchell went on to acquire an international reputation. The flats were built by the London County Council, at a time when public housing was valued. Join us to see the murals for yourselves, find out more about the other works of William Mitchell, and become part of the Tenants and Residents Associations campaign for the murals conservation. On 1st June from 2.30 – 3.30 Dr Dawn Perreira, an expert on William Mitchell and his work, will be on site to lead guided tours and answer any questions”.
