Brockley Max Birthday Bash

Event Details

Time: 7pm to late

Kicking off the live music will be FELIX’S ROCK CHOIR (FRC) who sprung from Felix’s School of Rock (FSOR) in 2007 – originally something for young rockers’ parents to do. They’ve performed over 100 songs at over 100 pubs, clubs, schools and special events doing mostly singalong friendly Rock, Pop & Soul. FRC has enjoyed appearing at Brockley Max many times.  Next up is veteran blues/country singer CERI JAMES, who has been playing at and organising Brockley Max events for almost 20 years. Starting around 2004 at Moonbow Jake’s Cafe. He also helped compile a CD of Brockley based artists/musicians in 2006 called Brockley Max Trax II in 2006.  Making a second appearance at the festival is relative newcomer is local singer/songwriter PRVNA who “Loved playing Brockley Max just before the pandemic happened, real good vibes – excited to be back this summer!”   And if that wasn’t enough, also appearing are Lewisham-based militant rock and roots reggae band and festival regulars THE FOUR FATHERS, who made their first appearance at Brockley Max in 2014.  Local legend, FLAKY JAKE first played in the Fox & Firkin in 1988, say no more ! Bought his first accordion in Len Stiles music shop nearby on Lewisham High Street. Now appearing as a dynamic duo with Matthew Goodsmith on drums. The final live act is Lewisham’s finest ‘cosmic’ country band, THE TRUE BELIEVERS fronted by musical comedian Steve Gribbin and local legend Alice Renouf. The True Believers have been part of Brockley Max since they formed in 2016 and have played every year since. Our host for the evening in Dre who has performed with his band and Mc’d over many Brockley Max festivals.

The celebrations will be rounded off with funk tunes from DJ mR tiDy, one of South London’s longest standing vinyl DJ’s who’s deejayed for Brockley Max festival numerous times over the years.
