This year’s festival will be the 25th Brockley Max, and plans are afoot for an almighty celebration. Founded by Moira Tait, the community arts festival began in 2001 with twelve events in two venues. Last year saw more than 85 events in more than two dozen venues across five Lewisham wards, validating her vision for how community arts could help foster community links.

The beloved community arts festival, which primarily takes place across Brockley, Crofton Park, Ladywell and Honor Oak returns on Friday 29 May 2026 and runs for nine days. The festival is bookended by a fantastic al fresco Opening Night on the first evening and a family-focused day festival up on Hilly Fields on Saturday 6 June. Anniversary events include a photograph exhibition, public art installations and even more music! We also have a swanky new logo designed by Simon Strutt  from Brandmade : www.brandmade.co.uk

Now it’s time for local performers, artists, venues and community groups to step forward with ideas for what else they’d like Brockley Max 2026 to comprise alongside in between these key events hosted by Brockley Max’s organising team. The festival programme will also be offered as a PDF download.

If you’d like to host an event – dance, theatre, music, comedy, put on a creative workshop for children or adults, want to share your love of zines or show off your DJ skills – we can help. The organising team can help match event ideas with venues, but we have also put together a Venues List with location, capacity and contact information.

Anyone keen to hold an event should submit an event application form and send it in, complete with a photo, an 80-word event description, contact details and social media links by 27 March. Confirmed events will be listed on the Brockley Max website and included in the full-colour Brockley Max festival programme published early May and distributed at stations and available in shops and venues across the festival area and the wider Lewisham.

Events during Brockley Max 2025 included a music trail, a full day of busking in Lewisham Shopping Centre, commissioning brand-new murals on Loampit Vale and a wonderful story trail that wove along Brockley Road as far as Honor Oak and One Tree Hill. The story of Brockley Max 2026 is up to you, so if you have an idea about what you’d like to see at your local festival, get in touch. Better yet, send in a completed event or performer application form by the 27 March deadline.  The full lowdown on how to put on an event can be found here. https://brockleymax.co.uk/host-events-2026/
