Valentine’s Day Ceilidh: A Brockley Max fundraiser
Join us on Saturday 14 February for a fun-filled folk dance night. Make a date with Brockley Max and The Box of Delights ceilidh band for a memorable night of Celtic folk dancing in the beautiful St Hilda’s Church, Crofton Park. https://store.brockleymax.co.uk/product/valentines-day-ceilidh-2026/
A Valentine’s Day fundraiser supporting Brockley Max community arts festival as well as much needed equipment for St Hilda’s and the ceilidh band, this event is sure to put you in your beloved’s good books. If you’ve never been to a ceilidh, you’re in for a treat. With both Scottish and Irish origins, the ceilidh [pronounced ‘kay-lee’] originated as a combination of storytelling, dancing and partying to bring communities together. That’s exactly our aim for this fun-filled night at which you’re encouraged to take your partner by the arm and strip the willow, march the Gay Gordons and generally make merry while trying to remember the steps. Don’t worry, it’s a light-hearted affair with gentle coaching and encouragement.
As well as a live band and ceilidh callers, we’ve lined up a bar featuring beers from Brockley Brewery, the option to purchase bubbles for the romantically inclined, as well as soft drinks and tasty Valentine’s treats.
Guests are encouraged to arrive at 7pm for a 7.30pm first dance. The Valentine’s Day ceilidh is a lively event, so please dress in something you can dance in! There will be half hour interval to give everyone a chance to catch their breath and enjoy some refreshments.
Tickets for this very special evening cost just £10 per person https://store.brockleymax.co.uk/product/valentines-day-ceilidh-2026/, but space constraints mean we are limited to just 80 dancers. Bottles of prosecco and sweet treats can be preordered to avoid disappointment on the night.
Box of Delights Ceilidh Band were a huge hit at last year’s Brockley Max festival, and we are delighted they agreed return to the glorious setting of St Hilda’s Church (https://www.sainthildas.org) so even more of us get to cut a rug for a great cause. The Valentine’s ceilidh featuring traditional live music from fantastic local musicians, and Box of Delights’ very own caller, Katie, who will guide you through the dances. Expect a fun-filled evening of dancing, laughter, drinks, some Valentine’s treats [preorders encouraged], and great company. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or a beginner, everyone is welcome to join in the festivities.
