How to put on an Event at Brockley Max
Brockley Max 2021 will kick off with an evening of live music at our online Opening Night from 7pm to 10.30pm on Friday 28th May.
This year, we will not be holding Art In The Park on Hilly Fields, due to the uncertainty of what will be allowed in June.
Update February 2021
This year's festival will be a little different but we aim to bring you music, theatre, poetry and comedy events as well as inviting you and your families to get involved in creative challenges and show them off to the wider community.
If you want to put on an event for the 2021 festival, it will need to be online, outdoors or indoors where the number of attendees can be controlled. Please complete the Expressions of Interest form below.
If you are thinking of holding an online event, you will need to consider how your are going to do this - which platform will you use, whether people need to log on etc.
If you have an idea for an outdoor event, its worth considering the following: it is unlikely that Lewisham Council or Glendales who manage the parks, will give permission for gatherings of people on public land, so think about a self-guided event where small numbers of people could visit locations. Perhaps your front garden, or the green space in front of our churches, pub gardens or even community gardens. Don't forget to contact the landowner for permission.
For indoor events, you will need to contact the venue and see if they are willing to agree to or help organise an event, which may have to be cancelled or adapted depending on Covid restrictions. We will need to confirm events by the end of April at the latest, so we may not know what's allowed in June by that date.
There’s a Venue Directory Here on our website.
- Choose a venue from the Venue Directory (this is not exhaustive)
- Contact the venue and agree a time and date
- Write a description of your event including whether it’s suitable for children (and which age groups), the time, date and cost of attending.
- Then go to the Brockley Max Event Registration Form and complete in full.
If you would like to apply to perform at the online Opening Night on 28th May please use the form below.
Please note: filling out the expression of interest form does not confirm your event’s inclusion in the programme, however if it is accepted and you can finalise all details by the 30 March, we’ll prioritise your event for inclusion in the festival and you’ll receive early support in publicising your event on social media. If you are submitting an event after 30 March, please complete the Event Form above. However, the final deadline for events is 20 April. We absolutely cannot accept any applications after that date.
Assuming your event is accepted, we’ll include it in our downloadable pdf festival programme and on the listings page of our website. If you’ve a photo of your event/band/artwork etc please attach it to your events form (labelled with event title & date of your event) so we can publicise your event. We’re on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Flickr and also send our regular email newsletters about Brockley Max events – so it’s well worth connecting with us on social media and tweeting about Brockley Max and your involvement in it.
Some venues are likely to be putting on events of their own during Brockley Max, so it’s important that you get in touch with them as soon as possible to find out whether you can play or perform there. We’d like your ideas as soon as possible but the final deadline is 20 April.
Taking part in our Opening Night on 28 May
If you’d like to be on the bill at our online Opening Night, please complete this form with links to your live performances. We cannot consider you without a link to a live performance.
As of writing, we are not planning to hold Art In The Park this year due to likely Covid restrictions. However, we may organise an aspect of it so sign up to our newsletter to be kept up-to-date.
Exhibit Your Work on Our Art Trail
Even if Covid -19 restrictions are still in place, we want to bring you art this summer with a festival Art Trail that you can enjoy at your own pace. So we are looking for artists, sculptors, craftspeople, photographers and anyone who wants to show their work in their window or front garden between 28 May and 5 June. All you need to do is to commit to your work being displayed for these 9 days.
So what are you waiting for!
